The #1 national bestseller and inside story of Steph Curry, the greatest shooter basketball has ever seen. Golden is the first book to provide an all-access look at Steph Curry and the team that has fueled Dub Nation—by longtime Warriors beat reporter and Bay Area News Group sports columnist Marcus Thompson, the go-to expert on all things Golden State. A lifelong Warriors fan turned insider Thompson is uniquely qualified to tell the definitive story of a singular talent, pulling back the curtain on the crazy work ethic and on-court intensity that make Curry great—and the emphasis on family and faith that keeps him grounded. Combining the competitive grit and fun-loving spirit of his mother with the mild demeanor, easy charm, and sharp shooting of his father, former NBA player Dell Curry, Steph Curry derives support and strength from his close-knit kin and his commitment to Christianity. This hard-working, wholesome image however is both a blessing and curse in a League of big personalities. Thompson unravels the complicated underpinnings of the Steph Curry hate with a nuanced analysis of how class and complexion come into play when a child with an NBA pedigree becomes the face of a sport traditionally honed on inner-city black top and dominated by the less privileged. With unprecedented access, Thompson draws from exclusive interviews with Steph Curry, his family, his teammates, Coach Steve Kerr, and the Warriors owners to bring readers inside the locker room and courtside with this remarkable athlete and man.

Following her bestselling Life Along the Silk Road, Susan Whitfield widens her exploration of the great cultural highway with a new captivating portrait focusing on material things. Silk, Slaves, and Stupas tells the stories of ten very different objects, considering their interaction with the peoples and cultures of the Silk Road—those who made them, carried them, received them, used them, sold them, worshipped them, and, in more recent times, bought them, conserved them, and curated them. From a delicate pair of earrings from a steppe tomb to a massive stupa deep in Central Asia, a hoard of Kushan coins stored in an Ethiopian monastery to a Hellenistic glass bowl from a southern Chinese tomb, and a fragment of Byzantine silk wrapping the bones of a French saint to a Bactrian ewer depicting episodes from the Trojan War, these objects show us something of the cultural diversity and interaction along these trading routes of Afro-Eurasia. Exploring the labor, tools, materials, and rituals behind these various objects, Whitfield infuses her narrative with delightful details as the objects journey through time, space, and meaning. Silk, Slaves, and Stupas is a lively, visual, and tangible way to understand the Silk Road and the cultural, economic, and technical changes of the late antique and medieval worlds.

Award-winning visual artist Guadulesa describes the creative process of her Art & Science project Matrix 5, which was funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. In search of evidence to prove the power of sound over matter, she studied the five healing tones utilized by her Tsalagi (Cherokee) ancestors in their medicine practices. Guadulesa used the tones as an art medium to create a set of 30 mixed medium paintings and gained empirical knowledge of the tones' effects on the human body. Through the publication of her journal notes with 36 color images, she takes us on a hand-held journey through sound, meditation and art-making. The Boston native now resides in Los Angeles, California, and her works are included in collections throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, Israel and Spain. Prior to Matrix 5, while living in Boston, Massachusetts in 1989, Guadulesa embarked on a creative project, called Keys of Infinity. She coordinated with like-minded artists who helped to shape an interdisciplinary, improvisational group of musicians, visual artists, dancers and poets. Music had always played a central force in her creative environment, but Guadulesa states that the opportunity to collaborate with other artists and perform as a painter was very exciting. Over the years they performed in such venues as the Knitting Factory and No. Moore Blues Cafe in New York City, the Mobius Space for Experimental Art and several other locations in the Boston area. Performing allowed her to experience the synergy of artists working together in the moment. With Keys of Infinity, Guadulesa began to feel that the sound environment influenced the drying patterns of her paintings. In 1992, she was awarded the Individual Artist Grant for designing a project that combined elements of Art and Science. Guadulesa learned that all form resonates with sound. Ancient cultures lived with that knowledge and made it part of their ritual ceremony for healing and balanced living. The Tsalagi healer utilized a combination of tones which matched the needs of their patients. Five principle tones resonate with particular human organ systems. Medicine chants and instruments can be used to help patients achieve optimum vibrational balance, so that healing can take place. Matrix 5: Tones of Resonance shares details of Guadulesa's experiences and discoveries."
