Exile is a band with a diverse history. The group formed in 1963 looking to play small clubs in Richmond, Kentucky, but managed to top both the pop and the country charts during a ten-year span in the late 1970s and 1980s. “Kiss You All Over” was a major hit in 1978, spending four weeks at the top of Billboard's pop chart. After several less successful follow-up singles, the band decided to make a move to country music. This resulted in 10 number one country hits. All of this success led to an induction into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2013.The years leading up to the release of “Kiss You All Over” represent an important and often misunderstood period in the band's history. During this time they played on three of Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars tours, released a series of singles and two full-length albums, worked with Tommy James, and played all over the Central Kentucky area and beyond. This book pays close attention to that era. In addition, a talented group of Kentucky musicians helped to rejuvenate the band in the 1990s, and this book tells their stories as well. This is a “must read” for aspiring young musicians and anyone who has been touched by the music of Exile. It shows how talent must be combined with patience, bull-dogish-stick-to-it-tive-ness, a willingness to put in the hard work that is needed to work in the music industry, and, in many cases, luck. Several people have been a part of Exile, and each member contributed in different ways. They each have a separate story, but this is the story of a band. Exile is an entity that held together. This book gives a thorough history, but it is an unfinished story because the band plays on.

An honest and deeply reported account of five women and the opportunities and frustrations they face in the year following their graduation from an elite university. Recent Princeton graduate Caroline Kitchener weaves together her experiences from her first year after college with that of four of her peers in order to delve more deeply into what the world now offers a female college graduate, and how the world perceives them. Each of the five girls in this diverse group were expected to attend college—but most had no clear expectations for their futures post-graduation. And as Kitchener follows each member of the group, it becomes harder to reduce them to stereotypes, harder either to defend or to judge their choices. Kitchener navigates expertly between the very personal and the wider sociological perspectives as she outlines a chronological year in the lives of all five women, illuminating and clarifying each one of their choices, victories, and foibles. Both a broad and an intensely individual exploration, Post Grad is a portrait of the shifting environment of that important year after graduation, as well as an intimate look at how a select group of very different individuals handles its challenges—navigating family tensions, relationships, jobs, and that ever-elusive notion of independence.

Taken together, the roles of designers are changing but they are still very much drawing on the fundamental skill set of designers. How can today's design practitioners, educators and students respond to the transition? The book reveals: • The working processes of these contemporary design practices; • How they have transformed their own practice; and • Why they done so and explore their reasons for their approach. Design Transitions provides a rich picture, both visually and textually, of the following practices in the field service design, user experience, design innovation, creative digital practices and social design. The authoring team has an established research publication record on design methods, tools and social practices of designers. Dr Joyce Yee is a senior lecturer at the Northumbria University's School of Design in the United Kingdom.
