The withstanding properties of inorganic membranes provide a set of tools for solving many of the problems that the society is facing, from environmental to energy problems and from water quality to more competitive industries. Such a wide variety of issues requires a fundamental approach, together with the precise description of applications provided by those researchers that have been close to the industrial applications. The contents of this book expand the lectures given in a Summer School of the European Membrane Society. They combine an easily accessible description of the technology, suitable for the graduate level, with the most advanced developments and the prospective of future applications. The large variety of membrane types makes almost compulsory to select a specialist for each of them, and this has been the approach selected in this book. In the case of porous membranes, the advances are related to the synthesis of microporous materials such as silica, carbon and zeolite membranes and hollow fibre membranes. A chapter covers the increasingly relevant hybrid membranes. Attention is also devoted to dense inorganic membranes, experiencing constantly improved properties. The applications of all these membranes are considered throughout the book. Covers all the inorganic membranes field, by different experts It comes from a European Summer School It includes future directions in the field

Classical Methods of Statistics is a guidebook combining theory and practical methods. It is especially conceived for graduate students and scientists who are interested in the applications of statistical methods to plasma physics. Thus it provides also concise information on experimental aspects of fusion-oriented plasma physics. In view of the first three basic chapters it can be fruitfully used by students majoring in probability theory and statistics. The first part deals with the mathematical foundation and framework of the subject. Some attention is given to the historical background. Exercises are added to help readers understand the underlying concepts. In the second part, two major case studies are presented which exemplify the areas of discriminant analysis and multivariate profile analysis, respectively. To introduce these case studies, an outline is provided of the context of magnetic plasma fusion research. In the third part an overview is given of statistical software; separate attention is devoted to SAS and S-PLUS. The final chapter presents several datasets and gives a description of their physical setting. Most of these datasets were assembled at the ASDEX Upgrade Tokamak. All of them are accompanied by exercises in form of guided (minor) case studies. The book concludes with translations of key concepts into several languages.

Based on the now-famous NYIF investment course taught by renowned portfolio manager V. John Palicka CFA CMT, this all-in-one guide shows you how to: Manage fundamental trends like gold investing and small-cap investing Master technical tools such as price forecasts and market data histories Recognize behavioral patterns like fear, greed, impulse, and sentiment Utilize quant systems to adapt, evolve, and balance your investments Whether you’re a hedge fund manager, a portfolio professional, or an individual investor, you’ll find a complete range of techniques that can work together for you. By combining the very best of all investment approaches, Palicka’s integrated system provides the perfect fusion of theory and practice. You’ll learn how to capitalize on the repeating nature of investment psychology—and avoid the emotional fallout that can rattle the market. You’ll learn how to strengthen and diversify your portfolio with strategic buys such as gold and other metals. You’ll learn how to identify future growth companies, evaluate real-estate opportunities, and evaluate your assets for the bigger picture. Once you fuse a strategy together, you can adjust your risks for the highest return possible. In today’s market, you need more than one strategy to grow your investments. You need the full-range potential of Fusion Analysis.
