Lecturas literarias shares same methodology, design, icons, and so forth as Punto y aparte. Each reading is accompanied by pre- and post-reading activities as well as by role-playing, creative-writing, and other follow-up activities that students can use to expand on the themes presented in each reading. Students are exposed to literary terminology. With each reading, a different aspect of literary analysis is presented (e.g., the use of dialogue, tone, narrative voice). Students are then asked to apply this new knowledge in a deeper analysis of the reading as a creative work.

Punto y aparte: Expanded Edition moves your students beyond learning about the Spanish language to actually using their Spanish in natural, meaningful contexts. With Punto y aparte: Expanded Edition students develop more confidence for communication and begin to think critically about language and culture. This is achieved by focusing on seven communicative functions and the grammar structures that support them. These communicative functions appear at the beginning of the text and are recycled throughout, providing opportunities for review in different contexts. Since this is not the typical linear march through grammar one structure at a time, students are able to begin using language in a way that is creative and allows for natural language production. As the title suggests, Punto y aparte: Expanded Edition puts students on a successful path from simple phrases to more extensive, paragraph-length discourse. Built on the successful foundation of Punto y aparte, the best-selling brief intermediate-level text, the Expanded Edition offers more grammar practice, expanded vocabulary, and a greater variety of cultural contexts, providing ample material for one-year intermediate courses, while maintaining the flexibility to be used in shorter courses as well. Because students come to Intermediate Spanish with disparate levels of language learning experience and proficiency, more challenging grammar receives less focus in the first half of the program, allowing instructors to tailor the program to their course depending on student level.

Andean Truths: Transitional Justice, Ethnicity, and Cultural Production in Post-Shining Path Peru studies how literature, drama, film, and the visual arts contest the dominant narrative of national peace and reconciliation, as constructed by Peru's Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Established in 2001, the Commission aimed to 'investigate and make public the truth' of the country's twenty-year civil war, drawing upon homologous predecessors that provided a highly scripted model of truth-gathering and national healing. In this model, a predetermined collective mourning, catharsis, and reconciliation would move the nation forward in a consensually-determined fashion. Andean Truths shows that the Peruvian case proves internationally-endorsed models insufficient for arriving at the 'truth' of a national trauma that primarily affected disenfranchised ethnic groups, namely, the Andean Quechua speaking populations that accounted for the overwhelming majority of victims of the violence. Even as scholars recognize the importance of bringing multiple voices to the table in discussing post-Shining Path Peru, we are still trying to understand what a more Andean-oriented transitional justice process might entail. Drawing on theories of decoloniality, intercultural communication and epistemological diversity (following scholars such as Enrique Dussel, Anibal Quijano and Boaventura de Sousa Santos), Lambright analyzes cultural products, from the theater of Yuyachkani to the narrative of Oscar Colchado Lucio, the art of Edilberto Jimenez, and other popular artistic responses, that highlight Andean understandings of the conflict and its aftermath. These cultural products challenge dominant understandings of the conflict and question Peru's ability to overcome its collective trauma without seriously reconsidering prevailing cultural paradigms. Pause-café is designed for the full second year of the study of French with emphasis on seven communicative functions: describing, comparing, narrating in the past, reacting and recommending, asking questions, talking about the future, and hypothesizing. These communicative functions are identified throughout the textbook by distinctive icons and are recycled in all six chapters. Although each chapter highlights at least one of the seven functions in turn, all seven are integrated into the chapter's oral and written work. The key grammatical structures that support these functions, called Points clés, appear with practice exercises at the back of the book. Pause-café helps students focus primarily on communicative functions because they are continuously recycled throughout the text, while the content and themes change with each new chapter.
