A grantor trust is a trust in which the settlor retains control over the trust property or its income to such an extent that the settlor is taxed on the trust's income. The use of grantor trust arrangements has become an important estate planning tool. Owners of grantor trusts may be shareholders of S corporations. A number of desirable and sophisticated estate planning arrangements involve grantor trust status as the starting point. These include grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), grantor retained unitrusts (GRUTs), personal residence trusts (PRTs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs) and intentionally defective grantor trusts (IDGTs).The Grantor Trust Answer Book addresses the following:. The grantor trust rules can be found in Code Sections 671 through 679. Each of these Sections describes a particular set of rules and circumstances that will cause a trust to be treated as a grantor trust. Each of these Code Sections is discussed in a separate Chapter addressing its rules and requirements.. Some of the interests retained by a grantor that make a trust a grantor trust also cause inclusion of the trust property in the grantor's estate. Other interests do not. These distinctions are discussed throughout the publication.. Separate chapters address the estate planning uses of all types of grantor trusts (GRATs and GRUTs, PRTs and QPRTs, IDGTs).. Grantor trust issues are involved in the design of certain charitable trusts, notably charitable lead trusts and these are discussed in detail. . Coverage of foreign grantor trusts which is increasingly a topic of planning interest and government concern is included as well. . The fact that grantor trusts are subject to special income tax filing and reporting rules is discussed.. The role grantor trusts may have in planning for life insurance ownership, like kind exchanges and involuntary conversions are also among the issues addressed.

Written over five decades, these poems begin fixed in the human condition, our common experience of an imperfect world. Slowly, under the aegis of the Spirit, they move toward a brighter vision of things: they ask us to dream in that fecund darkness until all shapes are shining. Poetry offers us an experience of union with the alarming and enthralling world we live in, as well as glimpses of what transcends it and is beyond language. It reminds us that all is connected and supports the hope that light will triumph. The author trusts that these poems may do the same as they explore the chain of being from animal to human, from serpent to angel--and that joy is the final dominant note.

"I have often said that money problems are not solved with money. Ann-Margaret understands it is not what you make but what you keep that matters. You will read this once and refer to it for years to come." —Dr. Phil, from his foreword It is no secret that we are living in an increasingly litigious society. What may come as a surprise, though, is that we are far more likely to be involved in a costly legal dispute with a former loved one than we are with a stranger. In Love and Money, Ann-Margaret Carrozza will help you to easily understand and implement essential legal strategies to prevent you from doing legal battle with someone you once shared Thanksgiving dinner (or a pillow) with. Through an engaging narrative, including amusing cautionary tales, readers will learn how to utilize contracts to identify and avoid costly relationship landmines, reduce pet peeves, and create a joint mission statement, all the while ensuring that one's wealth and values are transmitted to future generations. Love and Money demystifies many legal structures, including: Prenuptial agreements Postnuptial agreements Cohabitation agreements Love contracts Wills Trusts Powers of attorney Healthcare advance directives After learning how to erect legal barriers against external wealth destroyers and evildoers, the focus of the book moves to internal wealth destroyers. Readers will learn how to identify and combat internal wealth repellants such as low self-esteem, fear, and stress. Becoming and remaining wealthy requires more than just money. This book provides a unique education about the interrelated nature of the internal and external laws of wealth and how to put them both to work for stronger relationships with one's finances and loved ones.
