Sam Keen, the New York Times best-selling author of Fire in the Belly, has spent a lifetime reflecting on nature. In Sightings, a collection of essays, bird watching forms the basis for observations spiritual and soulful, witty and wise. He describes his childhood ramblings in the silence of the Tennessee wilderness as feeling distinctly more spiritual than the hard pews of his grandmother's church. Later in life, the presumed extinction and subsequent rediscovery of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker prompts a meditation on the nature of the sacred. Blessed with moments of beauty and the insight to recognize them as such, Keen translates the marvels of nature into the language of heart and soul.

The first book of its kind, the UFO Sightings Desk Reference: United States of America 2001-2015 presents data and analysis for 100,000+ sightings of unidentified flying objects reported by individuals during the first 15 years of the 21st century. Since 1969 the government has claimed no interest in the subject, and the press and media either ignore or ridicule any mention of UFOs. Yet citizen scientists and non-governmental organizations have continued to this day the research into this important subject: this book seeks to make the hardest data available accessible to the general public, as well as other UFO researchers. The book is organized into beginning narrative sections including analysis of UFO sightings, frequently asked questions, and how to use this book, followed by the data. Charts, tables, and maps are presented of summary data for the entire US and individual chapters for all 50 states (down to the county level) plus the District of Columbia. Aimed at the serious UFO researcher, this comprehensive volume is also of value to academic and public libraries, news organizations, and anyone who is interested in what is flying in the skies over their heads where they live. As seen in the New York Times: "People Are Seeing U.F.O.s Everywhere, and This Book Proves It By RALPH BLUMENTHAL -- APRIL 24, 2017"

Keith Brown’s literary essays, published at intervals over the course of a long career, are marked by their engaging flair and independence from intellectual fashion. They often explore aspects of the interaction of craftsmanship and ideas that are unnoticed or ignored in the mainstream of critical debate. However, the full potential of his approach only emerges when these essays are taken together. A notable concern of Brown’s critical method is to uncover the latent organising principles - naturally as various as the author’s intentions - that lie beneath the surface of any worthwhile extended literary work. His ‘sightings’ reveal the actual contours of literary landscapes seen dimly before.

It was an introduction that was to change his life forever. In Maine's coastal communities, and especially on its islands, Ralston found what every artist is looking for: a place to spend a creative lifetime, a subject that embodies every element of human experience. Includes an afterword by Betsy and Andrew Wyeth. This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Mirrors are mesmerizing. The rhetorical figure that represents a mirror is called achiasmus, a pattern derived from the Greek letter X (Chi). This pattern applies to sentences such as “one does notlive to eat; one eats to live.” It is found in myths, plays, poems, biblical songs, short stories, novels, epics. Numerous studies have dealt with repetition, difference, and Narcissism in the fields of literature, music, and art. But mirror structures, per se, have not received systematic notice. This book analyses mirror imagery, scenes, and characters in French prose texts, in chronological order, from the 17th to the 20th centuries. It does so in light of literal, metaphoric, and rhetorical structures. Works analysed in the traditional French canon, written by such writers as Laclos, Lafayette, and Balzac, are extended by studies of texts composed by Barbey d'Aurevilly, Georges Rodenbach, Jean Lorrain, and Pieyre de Mandiargues. This work appeals to readers interested in linguistics, French history, psychology, art, and material culture. It invites analyses of historical and ideological contexts, rhetorical strategies, symmetry and asymmetry. Ovid'sNarcissus and Alice in Wonderland are paradigms for the study of micro and macro-structures. Analyses of mirrors as cultural artefacts are significant to Lowrie'ssight seeing.

This book documents the UFO sightings seen at O'Hare Airport, NASA's Shuttle Atlantis, Area S4, England, Turkey, Russia, Texas, the lunar surface, and much more. Learn about UFO sightings documented around President Obama, Reagan, Carter and more. There are twenty intense chapters, each on a different sighting, plus three bonus chapters on new UFO related information. Did you know there were recently discovered faces on Mars of not one, but four new alien species? the photos are inside this book. Look at this conversation during the O'Hare Airport UFO sighting that the United Airlines ramp tower and the FAA Area Supervisor had in a nearby O'Hare tower. We begin to understand some details of a photograph that exists through their interesting and revealing conversation: Ramp Tower: "I'm sorry, there was, I told Dave, there was a disc flying outside above Charley 17 and he thought I was pretty much high. But, um, I'm not high and I'm not drinking." O'Hare Tower: "Yeah." Ramp Tower: "So, someone got a picture of it. So if you guys see it out there..." O'Hare Tower: "A disc, like a Frisbee?" Ramp Tower: Like a UFO type thing." O'Hare Tower: "Yeah, Okay." Ramp Tower: "He got a picture of it." (Laughing) The information in this book clearly identifies and weights the facts and possibilities that exist in new and interesting ways.
