Renewable Energies Offshore includes the papers presented in the 1st International Conference on Renewable Energies Offshore (RENEW2014), held in Lisbon, 24-26 November 2014. The conference is a consequence of the importance of the offshore renewable energies worldwide and an opportunity to contribute to the exchange of information on the developments and experience obtained in concept development, design and operation of these devices. The scope of the Conference was broad, covering all aspects of the renewable energies offshore such as resource assessment for wind, wave and tidal energies; design and dynamic behaviour of wind, wave and tidal converters and platforms, ocean energy devices; multiuse platforms; PTO design; grid connection; economic assessment; installation and maintenance planning. Renewable Energies Offshore has as main target academics and professionals working in the related areas of renewable energies.

The waves that animate the surface of the oceans represent a deposit of renewable energy that for the most part is still unexploited today. This is not for lack of effort, as for more than two hundred years inventors, researchers and engineers have struggled to develop processes and systems to recover the energy of the waves. While all of these efforts have failed to converge towards a satisfactory technological solution, the result is a rich scientific and technical literature as well as extensive and varied feedback from experience. For the uninitiated, this abundance is an obstacle. In order to facilitate familiarization with the subject, we propose in this work a summary of the state of knowledge on the potential of wave energy as well as on the processes and technologies of its recovery (wave energy converters). In particular, we focus on the problem of positioning wave energy in the electricity market, the development of wave energy conversion technologies from a historical perspective, and finally the energy performance of the devices. This work is aimed at students, researchers, developers, industry professionals and decision makers who wish to acquire a global perspective and the necessary tools to understand the field. Reviews the state of knowledge and developments on wave energy recovery Presents the history of wave energy recovery Classifies the various systems for recovering this type of energy

Italians to America is the first indexed reference work devoted to Italian immigrants to the United States. This series contains passenger list information in chronological order on the first major wave of Italian migration during the last two decades of the nineteenth century. As with the highly regarded companion series on German immigrants, Italians to America presents the passenger lists in chronological order, including information on each person's age, sex, occupation, village of origin, and destination, plus the name of the ship, the port of embarkation and the date of arrival. Each volume also contains an introduction on the history of Italian migration to the U.S. and a full name index, greatly simplifying the researcher's job.
